Super Ella Bros!

My nephew, Brennan Gilpatrick, has a penchant for filmmaking. Here's his latest: Super Ella Bros., featuring his sister/my niece, the fabulous Ella.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef4jVhNeLms&feature=digest_wed]

Here are some of my favorite works by Brennan. Both feature several members of my Indiana fam. Haaaay, Indy fam!

First, The Dinner Guest, a zombie-lover's delight! Fans of my awesome brother, Zach, will enjoy his cameo at the 09:05 mark.

This one is lovely: The Crescendo Kid, winner of the 2010 Indy Teen Film Festival. You might recognize the piano teacher; it's my high-collar-ruffle-stripe-blouse-loving sister, Kelly.

The family that acts together, stays together. Keep up the fabulousness, Brennan. Bright future!

Apology

I'd like to issue a sincere, heartfelt apology to my beau, DJB, for enduring months of me talking like that damn talking dog in that stupid Ultimate Dog Tease video I posted May 10.  [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGeKSiCQkPw]

"Yeah? Yeah?" I say, trying to contain my laughter. "What was in there? Covered it with what? The maple kind, yeah." I say whilst chortling in a very self-satisfied manner.

Jackass Jones over here. I have zero control. I hate quoters. I've become a total quoter. WTF!?

All the while, with every episode, DJB remains cordially stoic. He never criticizes my asinine quotes, nor does he encourage me to utter/chortle them. Good move, sir. I'm aware of my problem, but might need help conquering it. My recommendation: a new viral video to quote!

This one isn't new, but it sho' is new to me! Woooohoooo!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJIYWQhT_jU&feature=related]

DJB: I apologize in advance. "I want my ma-ma" is the new maple bacon, darling.

(Loving consideration for this post provided by my sister, Kelly, who adores talking animals.)

Happy Rufuswainwrightday

Oh, Rufus... dear, dear, sweet, wonderful Rufus Wainwright. God among men. Prodigy of the McGarrigle/Wainwright clan. Extraordinary, unadulterated talent. Happy 38th birthday, genius. Love you so. Thanks for creating one of the greatest songs on the Fabü Top 10. It's also on my funeral list. Hate to be morbid, but we're all gonna go someday, kids. When I do, you'll all hear this...

New Beasties!

In the spirit of the Marwencol (2000 documentary about brain-damaged Mark Hogancamp's doll-filled town in his yard), the Beastie Boys have released their new Spike Jonez music video for Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win (feat. Santigold). Absolutely epic!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhH9Y6q3Hhk]

P.S. If you've not seen Marwencol, I highly recommend. Here's the trailer.

Fab Alert!

Check out the very talented 17-year-old Anna Burden's a capella cover of Lulu and the Lampshades' You're Gonna Miss Me. Five stars for turning a plastic cup into her own miniature drum. Ultra-fab! She's an Indiana native, which, of course, causes me to adore her even more. Take it away, Anna!

Santa Fe Wedding Fabulousness: The Main Event

The wedding was breathtakingly gorgeous. See for yourself.

The bride, Bonnie Minkus, and groom, Jayme Holmes, are standing under a chuppah made by mother-of-the-bride, Sabra Minkus. It symbolizes the home they'll create together. The sides are left open to signify that all friends and family are welcome into their new life and home. The roof above the chuppah is embroidered with the traditional phrase, Ani L'Dodi V'Dodi Li (I Am My Beloved's and My Beloved is Mine), from the Song of Solomon

Reception: incredible. Posh as can be, yet it retained the warmth of a far more intimate scenario... well done, everyone.

Guest-list? Fabulous, of course. Here's my table roster, alone.

Not pictured: Aaron Gottlieb.

And, of course, mister man and yours truly.

No, I didn't attend the event topless; it's a strapless maxi dress, dahling! Add maxi bangs + maxi bracelet, and the result is easy, breezy, but not sleazy... in short, a good summer wedding guest dress.

Here's DJB with the happy, gorgeous couple.

Michele Meade and I nearly missed the whole Hava Nagila experience because we were chatting it up outside. Fortunately, we caught the tail end.

One of the evening's highlights: the children's impromptu cover of Lady Gaga's Born This Way. Beyond fabulous. I cried a little; that's how cool it was.

Such a lovely weekend. Hearty thanks and congratulations, Bonnie and Jayme!

Hot Dog Drama!

Congrats to Takeru Kobayashi, who broke a world record yesterday by wolfing down 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes

There's a catch, though: it was an unofficial record, as Kobayashi has been banned from competing because  he won't sign an exclusive contract with Major League Eating.

So, while the rest of the pro weiner scarfers competed yesterday at the annual Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, Kobayashi ate his franks solo on a Manhattan high-rise rooftop.

At the Coney Island event, Kobayashi's rival, Joey "Jaws" Chestnut won his fifth straight victory in the 10-minute contest, eating 62 dogs, six short of his 2009 world record.

NO! No-no-no-no-noooo!

Why is this still happening?!? I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, dahling, but here goes: The Real Housewives of New York City's Countess LuAnn de Lesseps has released another single, Chic C’est La Vie

If you're familiar with de Lesseps' first single, Money Can't Buy You Class, then you basically know what to expect from her latest offering. The good news: there is no good news. The bad news: it's worse than the first one.  And, to add insult to injury, fellow housewives Jill Zarin and Kelly Bensimon appear in the video, bouncing and toe-tapping so off-the-charts-awkwardly in their chaise lounges that I simply couldn't finish watching the damn thing. Get ready to cringe like crazy, because here it is:

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_GHgQ9PSII]

For the love of humanity, please knock it the hell off, LuAnn. The ass-kissing, money-grubbing parasites who are telling you this is a good idea are 100% full of shit. Stop. Now. Thanks in advance.

Pitch of the Day

A Cirque du Soleil performer delivered this incredible first pitch in San Diego at Monday's game between the Padres and Kansas City Royals. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwGvcAxxydk]

Seksi Times!

Please enjoy the hotness of Raphael Saadiq's video, Stone Rollin', an ode to curvy girlsSadly, there's an ad (soooo annoying... wish they'd cut that out) you'll have to endure first, but it's worth it.  [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHyalVRUXrA]

A Boy After My Own Heart

He doesn't know it yet, but this boy is already a fabulista. Witness his perfect drop to the ground and trilling wail. Five stars! This is what many of us want to do when presented with luxury items. This boy serves it and doesn't care at all what anyone thinks of his theatrics.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHvqMC5kTno]

Congrats on the new bike, young fabulous one. Now go get that seat customized in cognac leather, post-haste! Make us proud, boy.

I Have NO Words...

The clip's title says it all: Angry Man With No Arms Destroys Hotel Lobby.  [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoGfEc2iTgE&feature=player_embedded#at=58]

Dude is PISSED!

Bad-Ass Birthday

Suzi Quatro, happy 61st birthday. You are so fierce that tigers bow at your feet.  Without you, we might not have Joan Jett, The Runaways, the Riot Grrrl movement, etc. You toured with Thin Lizzy. Kiss OPENED for you in the early 70s. You're so fabulous that I'm just going to shut up.

Two final words: Leather Tuscadero.

Joakim Noah in the GLAAD Hot Seat

Chicago Bulls center, Joakim Noah, is under fire for calling a fan in the stands the same name Kobe Bryant hurled at that playoff game last month. As a result, the NBA fined Noah $50,000. That's half of what Kobe had to shell out for his gaffe. Perhaps Noah received a lighter punishment because his dance moves are so fly. See clip.  [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ3y5hTHuP4]

It's the Male Urban Turban!

Karl Lagerfeld's at it again.  Now, he's pushing the male urban turban.

At his recent Chanel cruisewear show, Lagerfeld sent his muse, Baptiste Giabiconi, striding down the catwalk in the aforementioned headgear. Click here to see a pic.

I give it... meh... 2.5 stars. Sorry, Unkle Karl; these urban turbans simply make me think of Jambi.
