Shower #4

Our beloved Sabra hosted our final shower: a lovely brunch at Seasons in Old Town.

We forgot to bring the camera. D'oh! Even if we had brought it, we still probably would have forgotten to take pics... because we were so obsessed with the food. We. Ate. So. Much.

Thanks to Dinah for this awesome pic of DJ, Big Mama and the Mighty Godparents!

Such a lovely shower. So much love in the room. Wonderful to see cherished friends and family. Heartfelt thanks, Sabra.

Shower #3

My ladies Kim B., Kim C., Paula and Jami hosted a fantastic shower for the Browns. Theme: Thing One and Thing Two.

Kim C.'s lovely home was decked out with Thing One and Thing Two garb.

The spread was deeee-lish. Even the cakes were themed!

And the gifts... oh, the gifts! Super-fab! If you look to the left, you'll see my bloated lil' sausage fingers, poised to open the Lil' Luxuries Whirlpool, Bubbling Spa & Shower (thanks, Jami and Lorant!). Perfect for the offspring of a certain spa review writer.

And you might be impressed with these fancy little numbers: the Starlight Papasan Baby Swings (big thanks to Jason, Lorin and the Kims!).

Big thanks to all. We were absolutely floored by the big turnout. Still hard to believe that nearly all my hot bachelor workmates showed up, played shower games and even showed (or feigned!) interest during the gift-opening portion of the party. I heart the WIA/MA gang!!!

Thanks especially to Jami, Paula and the Kims. We're so grateful. Much love, ladies.

Shower #2

The Armstrongs (Ben, Sheli & Addison) hosted a wonderful vintage baby shower for the Browns.  No detail spared---par for the course, considering it was a Sheli Armstrong/SoireeQ event. Vibe: perfect. Decor: vintage garden chic. Great to see so many old friends.

We love you, Armstrongs! Thanks a million.

Baby Shower #1

It's baby shower time! Saturday, we attended the first party, hosted by the fabulous Angela Lovell and Tony Waldron.  Highlights included a tasty, healthy lunch, onesie and bib decorating station and, last but oh-so-certainly not least, the cake, courtesy of the incredibly-warped minds of Angela and Lara Jean Lovell.

Let's jump right to the cake, shall we? It's becoming famous in its own right, and is rapidly gaining Facebook celeb status.

DJ and I extend deep thanks to Angela, Tony and all the wonderful guests. Such a special day!

Drag Queen Bingo!

A fine time was had by all at the annual Drag Queen Bingo Brunch at Scalo, a benefit for New Mexico AIDS Services

Special thanks to The Dolls, Brian Brown of NMAS and the Scalo staff for being so kind and accommodating to ol' preggers. 'Til next year!

Bark at the Supermoon!

Supermoon fever!

The biggest full moon of the year occurs this weekend: Saturday, May 5, at 11:35 p.m. Eastern.

So not only is it Cinco de Mayo, but it's the biggest full moon of the whole year.  In other words, it's... going... to... get... KA-RAAAY-ZAY this year.

The emergency rooms will be filled with über-drunk maniacs! They'll all be wearing sombreros and sarapes! There will likely be lots of fight victims... stab and gun wounds galore, honey! Supermoon Cinco de Mayo will eat your children, so keep everyone indoors. And stay off the roads. That goes for everyone, even the teetotalers.

Perhaps I'll have a virgin margarita. I do miss tequila, I won't lie. It makes me so crazy that I can't drink it around my husband.

"Drink all you want with your friends, but keep that girl (meaning Crazy Tequila Lisa) away from me," he mandated quite some time ago.

He can drink tequila 'til the cows come home, and he just gets a little silly and sappy. Me: serial killer. Unfair!

This is a perfect time for a Butterfield break.

Tupac Resurrection at Coachella

The late Tupac Shakur appeared on the Coachella stage last night and performed a few of his hit songs alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.  It was a hologram. A very high-tech, authentic-looking hologram.

Needless to say, the crowd of 75,000 went nuts.

One festival-goer, Jordan Buckley, said it best when he tweeted, "i can't even begin to imagine what this Tupac hologram is doing to all the people at Coachella that have been on acid for 3 days straight."

Saturday Night Fever

Saturday night was quite fun.  We attended a Mad Men-themed birthday party for Luis Demetrio Nolasco at Hotel Andaluz. A fine time was had by all.

I could be wrong, but I think there's a strong chance that you might absolutely love my vintage ensemble by Mr. Blackwell. The collar, cuffs and hem on the dress match the cape. Thanks to Kamille Crowley for the amazing frock.

And, yes, I got a new 'do, courtesy of the very talented Kelli Williams. That's part two of the second green hair post. The vinegar/lemon worked fairly well, but not well enough. Yes, I could've tried other things, but it was time for a change. I was more than ready, dahling.

Morning SmackDown: Good vs. Evil

I woke up pissy. Total crab mode. NOT pleased. EVIL.

Fortunately, my buffoon of a husband soon had me laughing. GOOD.

It's windy. Checked the weather.

Partly cloudy. Damaging winds. Isolated rain and snow showers in the evening...then isolated snow showers after midnight. Lows in the lower to mid 20s. East winds 40 to 50 mph with gusts to around 70 mph.

Seriously? Tonight is Nob Hill Shop & Stroll! EVIL.

I heart Shop & Stroll. So lame! SO LAME! Wonder if they'll cancel the event? I'll look into it and let you know.

Fortunately, there's a silver lining to all of this...

Tonight, at 8 p.m., we're attending the premiere of The Dolls' holiday play, All About Christmas Eve. Weather be damned, I'm having fun tonight! GOOD!

My iQ write-up of the show:

All About Christmas Eve

8p Fri.-Sat., 2p Sun.; Dec 1-4, 8-11, 15-18

Aux Dog Theatre

3011 Monte Vista NE, 505.254.7716

$15, Thursday tickets are $10

info@auxdog.com

Nothing says “Merry Christmas” like drag queens and Norma Desmond; thus, get your padded keister to Aux Dog Theatre for the Dolls’ annual holiday play. This year, it’s All About Christmas Eve, an original play by Dolls co-founder Ken Ansloan.

God is a drag queen who sends his most trusted and fabulous angel, Norma Desmond (Sunset Boulevard), to Earth to help mousy misfit Eve by showing her a succession of Christmas Eves in her life, from sweet young thing to sordid stripper to horrid hag who will be murdered on Christmas Eve if she doesn't change her evil ways.

Will Eve ever learn the true reason for the season?  Will Norma ever get her wings and be ready for her close-up, Mr. DeMille? Will God ever find the right shade of nail polish to match his halo? Find out when you partake in this holiday tradition that is far more fabulous than fruitcake.

###

This torrid weather means only one thing: Cream of Wheat. So, soooo GOOD.

I'd like to thank the goods for outweighing the bads this morning.

Putting the 'Ho' in Holiday

There's something you really need to know: on December 10th, during Santacon San Francisco, they're going to establish a world record for the largest gathering of naked Santas

From the press release:

You may ask, "Why NAKED?"

Well, there's plenty of other Santa records...like:

* Largest gathering of Santas * Largest gathering of Elves * Largest Secret Santa gifting group * blah blah blah

San Francisco has a long tradition of people being naked in public. Heck, it's almost required when we have a large group of people get together in our fair city...

So, since Santacon will again be a HUGE gathering of Santas and San Francisco damn well better be the BEST at EVERYTHING, then let's do this!

The day before Santacon, Dec. 9th, we'll announce the location for this World Record Attempt and it will be somewhere central to the "official" routes for all you Santas. If you want to go down in history, BE THERE AND GET READY!

Here's the rules:

* You have to be naked, but CAN and SHOULD be at least wearing a Santa hat. Boots/boot covers and gloves are also OK. Otherwise, it's Full Monty or nuthin' * No Elves, No Reindeer, etc. We LOVE all Santacon revellers, but Guinness will be strict about the "Santa" requirement. * You'll have to sign some paperwork with your name, address and email and OK us to take your photo, that's part of the Guinness rules too.

It's Fabturday!

Lots of fab things happening today, dahling.  1. First, mi amiga, Kimberly, and I are getting our palms read. Cue creepy music! Ooooweeeoooo!

2. Next, we fetch mah huzzbun, then we're off to the grand opening bash at new downtown men's clothier, Dressed to Kill

3. Then it's over to Nob Hill for the Bollywood Bash Grand Opening at Sukhmani Nob Hill.

4. Last stop: the Aux Dog Theatre for The Dolls' annual Halloween play. This year, it's Satan's School for Girls -- The Reunion

Actually, that's probably not our last stop. Might need a little nightcap before heading home. It's is Saturday night, after all.

Hope your Saturday is fabulous!

Saturday Night Lameness

We totally missed Mother Death Queen at Blackbird last night (Sorry, Cara!). We'll be at the Thursday night show -- see promo above

We did have a lovely early evening dog walk with Dominic of Dead on Point Five, however. Does this mean we still rock? Yes, I totally think it does.

Here's Dom and his band of not-so-merry misfits:

UPDATE (9/19/11): Mother Death Queen will NOT play Thursday, Sept. 22 at Launchpad. Keep ya' posted on upcoming dates.

Party Prep!

Stacie and I visited esthetician extraordinaire Anna Leah Cunico at Fusion Hair and Skin. Anna is the queen of brows, lashes, facials and waxing. She's also hilarious. Thanks, Anna!

We're now heading to breakfast. It's Stacie's first Frontier restaurant experience. Then, it's off to Naman Studios for a Fabü photo shoot. Shortly thereafter, sister Kelly arrives. After that, it's sheer debauchery, dahling.
