A Moment of Silence, Please

"You can say the nastiest things about yourself without offending anyone."  Phyllis Diller

Phyllis Diller, one of my top icons, died in her sleep today at age 95.

The Ohio native was an Alameda, Calif., mother of five when she made her nightclub debut at the Purple Onion in San Francisco in 1955... at age 37. Hell. Yes.

Phyllis, you are fabulous incarnate. Thank you so much. See you on the other side.

Susan Tyrrell, offbeat actress extraordinaire, died Saturday in her sleep at home in Austin. She was 67. Plagued by health problems, Tyrrell's cause of death is pending, following the medical examiner's report.

Au revoir, Susan. Thanks for keeping it real, quirky lady.

"The last thing my mother said to me was, 'SuSu, your life is a celebration of everything that is cheap and tawdry.' I've always liked that, and I've always tried to live up to it."

Tupac Resurrection at Coachella

The late Tupac Shakur appeared on the Coachella stage last night and performed a few of his hit songs alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.  It was a hologram. A very high-tech, authentic-looking hologram.

Needless to say, the crowd of 75,000 went nuts.

One festival-goer, Jordan Buckley, said it best when he tweeted, "i can't even begin to imagine what this Tupac hologram is doing to all the people at Coachella that have been on acid for 3 days straight."

The Love Boat is getting scrapped, folks. It's way past its prime.

Ah, the memories... Captain Merrill Stubing... bartender extraordinaire, Isaac Washington... cruise director, Julie McCoy... Dr. Adam "Doc" Bricker... and, last but certainly not least, our yeoman-purser, Burl 'Gopher' Smith.

Farewell, Love Boat! You'll sail on in our hearts forever. Bon voyage!

Oh, Don Cornelius. We'll miss you so much. It's our hope of hopes that you're pain-free now. Can't say that I blame you, sir. Heck, I might even have to go so far as to give you props. There, I said it.

I know that' s controversial, but I would never judge someone for taking their own life due to terminal illness or incurable, chronic pain. If your quality of life has become so horrible that, until you die, your days will be spent in misery, what kind of life is that? Why should they be forced to suffer?

Just one woman's opinion. Feel free to voice your own. It's welcome and respected here.

It does sadden me that Don died on the first day of Black History Month. Sigh.

See you on the other side, Don. Like you always said at the end of every Soul Train, “As always, in parting, we wish you love, peace and soul!”

I'll bet you anything Don is doing this right now while he's waiting in line to transition to the next level:

The first couple is actually Don Cornelius and Mary Wilson. Forgive the poor quality.

Peace out, sir. Good luck.

Wonder what's next for North Korea ? High potential for more of the same. Wouldn't it be so awesome if something different occurred? As in good different. Worse would be very, very bad for those poor people. Fingers crossed for different good.

It's a double-death kind of day, dahling.

First, Patrice; now Willis the hamster.

Heartfelt condolences to my lovely and talented niece, Ella, on the loss of Willis.

He was a good hamster. He loved treats, sleeping and his exercise ball.

See you on the other side, Willis. Say hey to Django.
