Quandary of the Day

As a parent, I can still listen to Electric Wizard, right? Can I play it in the family vehicle? Is it acceptable to expose the twins' budding brains to doom metal?

R.I.P.

Susan Tyrrell, offbeat actress extraordinaire, died Saturday in her sleep at home in Austin. She was 67. Plagued by health problems, Tyrrell's cause of death is pending, following the medical examiner's report.

Au revoir, Susan. Thanks for keeping it real, quirky lady.

Shower #2

The Armstrongs (Ben, Sheli & Addison) hosted a wonderful vintage baby shower for the Browns.  No detail spared---par for the course, considering it was a Sheli Armstrong/SoireeQ event. Vibe: perfect. Decor: vintage garden chic. Great to see so many old friends.

We love you, Armstrongs! Thanks a million.

Happy Queenfabioladay

HM Queen Fabiola of Belgium is 84 today. 

So jealous of that title/name combo that I need to pause and engage in some deep breathing. 

Queen Fabiola is fluent in Spanish, French, Dutch, English, German and Italian. 

I'm going to ask Mr. Brown about changing Pearl's name to Queen Fabiola Brown.

Baby Shower #1

It's baby shower time! Saturday, we attended the first party, hosted by the fabulous Angela Lovell and Tony Waldron.  Highlights included a tasty, healthy lunch, onesie and bib decorating station and, last but oh-so-certainly not least, the cake, courtesy of the incredibly-warped minds of Angela and Lara Jean Lovell.

Let's jump right to the cake, shall we? It's becoming famous in its own right, and is rapidly gaining Facebook celeb status. 

DJ and I extend deep thanks to Angela, Tony and all the wonderful guests. Such a special day!

Double Craigslist Fail

Last night, I decided to see what kind of baby stuff could be found on Craigslist.  Result: frightening. 

1. Teeter Tater

"This is the coolest teeter tater you ever seen this is a yogi bear."

I'd love to spew an incredibly witty response, but I'm fairly speechless. How do you respond to that, I ask you? What the hell do you say?!? Teeter TATER? 

2. Box of Babies 

Naturally, I was so taken by the ad that I had to click on it.

"This is a sad sad day. My 4 year old daughter really doesn't like baby dolls. I thought I would have a girl who loved babies as much as I did! I am coming to reality that it's just not going to happen. I cleaned out her closet today and this box is stuffed with new toys, old toys, baby clothes, babies, games, puzzles, and a brand new barbie doll head (the one that you style the hair) and so my loss is your gain. Can you see the tears running down my face?"

Considering her reaction to this situation, I can just imagine the grand scale of her meltdown when she learns that her daughter is a lesbian. Gooood times!
