Happy Reddfoxxday

It's John Elroy Sanford's 89th birthday.

You might know him better as Redd Foxx. 

Who doesn't love Redd Foxx? If you raised your hand, kindly leave this blog. It clearly states in the nonexistent AbFabulisa rules that in order to hang out here, you must love Redd Foxx, OK? 

Any haters left? All gone? Good. Let's move on, then. 

The story of Redd's death is classic. We'll use the Wikipedia version. 

On October 11, 1991, during a break from rehearsals for The Royal Family, he suffered a fatal heart attack on the set. Reportedly, co-star Della Reese and the rest of the cast and crew thought he was doing his classic "I'm coming, Elizabeth!" fake heart attack routine he made famous on Sanford and Son, even going as far as collapsing to the floor, although that was not part of the usual act. However, this heart attack was real, and Foxx did not regain consciousness.

Saturday Night Fever

Saturday night was quite fun.  We attended a Mad Men-themed birthday party for Luis Demetrio Nolasco at Hotel Andaluz. A fine time was had by all. 

I could be wrong, but I think there's a strong chance that you might absolutely love my vintage ensemble by Mr. Blackwell. The collar, cuffs and hem on the dress match the cape. Thanks to Kamille Crowley for the amazing frock. 

And, yes, I got a new 'do, courtesy of the very talented Kelli Williams. That's part two of the second green hair post. The vinegar/lemon worked fairly well, but not well enough. Yes, I could've tried other things, but it was time for a change. I was more than ready, dahling.

Happy Littlerichardday

I'm so excited! It's Little Richard day! Total icon. Man, do I love me some Little Richard. 

Why in the world haven't I dressed up as Little Richard for Halloween yet? 

I always come up with the best Halloween costumes between, like, November and August. And I never write them down. Then October comes around and I have no clue what to wear for Halloween. This. Happens. EVERY. Year. 

Am I going to change my ways and write down "Little Richard Halloween Costume" somewhere? Hell no! Why break tradition, I say? And, as a result, I'll probably spend Halloween 2012 in some lame-ass get-up like a phantom or something equally yawn-worthy. 

I'm supposed to be writing about Little Richard, aren't I? Sigh.

Happy 55th birthday to Mary Cathleen Collins, a.k.a. Bo Derek. 

Her dossier reads like a rollercoaster ride...

Sex symbol: fabulous. Up. 

Acting: meh. Down. 

At age 16, she stole Linda Evans' husband, director John Derek, who was 30 years her senior. They fled to Germany to avoid John being charged with statutory rape under U.S. law due to Bo tender age. They returned to America shortly after her 18th birthday, married and remained that way 'til 1998. Since 2002, she's been with actor John Corbett. Yes, Aidan from Sex and the City, among other huge roles. Husband-stealing: down. Corbett: up.

Happy Adamantday

As many of you know, I'm crazy about Adam Ant. Just thinking about him makes me want to do cartwheels. 

Whoever gets my husband to dress up as Adam Ant next Halloween---or any day, for that matter---receives a special present. I don't know what it is yet, but rest assured it will be something fabulous, like, perhaps a framed photo of the baby we'll create after I pounce on his hawt ass when I see him in an Adam Ant costume. I wonder if he'd go along with my wishes to name the child Adam Ant Brown? Yes, even if it's a girl. Stop it. Don't stomp on my dreams.
