Best Christmas Card of 2011!

Although the Best Christmas Card votes aren't even close to being tallied, I think it's safe to go ahead and declare this year's winner: San Juan mayor Jorge Santini and family

The lovely quote, “Que esta Navidad ilumine tu sueño,” translates to “May this Christmas light your dream” in English.

The mayor chose this unique and fabulous scene in an effort to promote el Museo de Vida Silvestre (Museum of Wildlife)

Santini defended the unusual card by saying he wanted to promote San Juan's Wildlife Museum. Good call, mayor. Excellent idea.

I could be wrong, but I strongly suspect the little girl is stuffed, as well. Fantastic taxidermy work. Five stars.

May this Christmas light your dream, dahling.

Morning SmackDown: Good vs. Evil

I woke up pissy. Total crab mode. NOT pleased. EVIL.

Fortunately, my buffoon of a husband soon had me laughing. GOOD.

It's windy. Checked the weather.

Partly cloudy. Damaging winds. Isolated rain and snow showers in the evening...then isolated snow showers after midnight. Lows in the lower to mid 20s. East winds 40 to 50 mph with gusts to around 70 mph.

Seriously? Tonight is Nob Hill Shop & Stroll! EVIL.

I heart Shop & Stroll. So lame! SO LAME! Wonder if they'll cancel the event? I'll look into it and let you know.

Fortunately, there's a silver lining to all of this...

Tonight, at 8 p.m., we're attending the premiere of The Dolls' holiday play, All About Christmas Eve. Weather be damned, I'm having fun tonight! GOOD!

My iQ write-up of the show:

All About Christmas Eve

8p Fri.-Sat., 2p Sun.; Dec 1-4, 8-11, 15-18

Aux Dog Theatre

3011 Monte Vista NE, 505.254.7716

$15, Thursday tickets are $10

info@auxdog.com

Nothing says “Merry Christmas” like drag queens and Norma Desmond; thus, get your padded keister to Aux Dog Theatre for the Dolls’ annual holiday play. This year, it’s All About Christmas Eve, an original play by Dolls co-founder Ken Ansloan.

God is a drag queen who sends his most trusted and fabulous angel, Norma Desmond (Sunset Boulevard), to Earth to help mousy misfit Eve by showing her a succession of Christmas Eves in her life, from sweet young thing to sordid stripper to horrid hag who will be murdered on Christmas Eve if she doesn't change her evil ways.

Will Eve ever learn the true reason for the season?  Will Norma ever get her wings and be ready for her close-up, Mr. DeMille? Will God ever find the right shade of nail polish to match his halo? Find out when you partake in this holiday tradition that is far more fabulous than fruitcake.

This torrid weather means only one thing: Cream of Wheat. So, soooo GOOD.

I'd like to thank the goods for outweighing the bads this morning.

Happy Black Friday

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=T-K7xDHAfdA Here's the melee today at Walmart in Porter Ranch, CA.

I'm not stepping foot out my damn door until I depart this evening for a dinner party.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween, dahling.

This year's Best Costume unquestionably goes to the Halloween master, Mike Roubidoux. Another stellar year, sir. This one takes the cake. So extra-creepy. Spine shivers. Boooaahhhahahaha!

Happy Leftie Day!

It's International Lefthanders Day, and you know what that means... PAR-TAY! Southpawtinis for everyone, honey!  Today, lefties around the world gather 'round the Wrong Hand Tree and exchange gifts of scissors, computer mice and golf clubs. Later, they share left-handed compliments while feasting on leftovers.

The Latin meaning for left is sinistra, AKA sinister; thus, never trust a southpaw. Any invitations to their celebrations today should be politely declined. Should you accept, don't come cryin' to me if things go horribly wrong.

Violation!

Not only does this refined gentleman's attire violate his dignity, but it also violates the U.S. Flag Code.  In 1942, Congress issued the code with the goal of protecting and respecting the flag. Sections 8d and 8i of the code state that the flag should not be used "as wearing apparel, bedding or drapery." Nor should it "be printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes."

Good news, though: Don't worry that your flag bikini might end up getting you arrested. The code is a guide, not a law.

Holiday Weekend Wrap-Up

Thanks to everyone who fed me this weekend. There was a definite culinary theme among my peeps who held various cookouts: sausage... lots of sausage. I'm seriously waddling now; I am so pregnant with sausage. Seksi, no?  Moving on, be glad you didn't spend the last few days around Cocoa Beach, Florida...

Legions of jellyfish called mauve stingers washed ashore from the Atlantic, primarily around Cocoa Beach. As a result, over 400 people suffered stings. Good times!

If you did, however, happen to spend the weekend around Cocoa Beach, please accept my condolences for the jellyfish attack. Sucks to be you.
