Guess Who Eloped?

I'll give you a hint: DJB and I! We were married October 1 in Red River, New Mexico.

The ceremony took place on an old, covered bridge, and was officiated by the town judge, Jack Griffin (who also owns and operates the tiny town's Shamrock gas station).  The day was perfect in every single way.

Fine, fine... I'll get on with the pictures, courtesy of the fabulous Wes Naman

I'm a wife, dahling! How fabulous is that? Cheers!

With love,

Lisa VanDyke-Brown

Zombie Infested Race of the Day

My brother, Zach, just turned me on to one of the coolest things evah:  A zombie infested 5K obstacle course race!!!

The event is called Run for Your Lives. Here's the lowdown:

Protect your brain and run for your life. This is one race where your legs giving out are the least of your problems. Run For Your Lives is a first-of-its-kind event, one part 5K, one part obstacle course, one part escaping the clutches of zombies — and all parts awesome.

Runners will navigate a series of 12 obstacles throughout a 5K course in an attempt to reach the finish line — all while avoiding zombies. At the end of this adventure race, you get to celebrate survival (or zombie transformation) with live entertainment and music, local celebrities, vendors, food, and of course, beer!

Click here to find a location near you. Don't see anything near you listed? The virus is spreading in 2012; new locations coming soon.

1. Hair salvation, courtesy of Kelli Williams. Welcome back, platinum.

2. Who doesn't love receiving fresh chile verde from a guy in a sweet Pac Man shirt?

3. Special delivery! Super-delish engagement gift from Mom & Jim. Thanks, fam! Almost looks too good to eat. I said ALMOST... these treats are history, dahling.

4. Mary, in semi-comatose state: half asleep/half awake. She was totally unaware of the tongue.

Skate On!

Steps away from my humble treehouse abode, there's a stretch of road---with a sweet hill---that's temporarily closed.

DJB and Eric had no choice but to bomb it on their longboards. Rad.

A man walked by with his old dog in a wagon. So sweet, I nearly cried. Totally would have done that with my dearly departed Django once he could no longer take walks, had he not been so skittish.

This, my friends, is what we call a lovely morning.

For Meghan

Welcome back to the good ol' U.S. of A., Meghan. We missed you. Hell, we still miss you --- you're not here. Thus, this one's for you, sister. You were here in spirit.  Setia brought Thai food over for belated birthday/engagement fabulousness.

Winner of the Day

Kudos to Mike Jerrick of Philadelphia's Fox 29 news for doing what every anchor in his position has likely wanted to do. Five stars!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B3YeZMxrhE

Stacie, Come Baaaack!

The general consensus in Albuquerque is that Stacie should come back for an extended visit.

See, she's sad about it, too. She totally wants to come back.

We love you, Stacie. You are the smarty hotness.

P.S. Come back soon.

Happy Billandtomkaulitzday

It's birthday # 22 for those seksi, androgynous, identical twin brothers, Bill and Tom Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel. Can't say I'm a big fan of the music, guys; however, I am a fan of seksi androgyny... thus, you receive the birthday spotlight.

Speaking of seksi androgyny, can we agree that supermodel Andrej Pejic is the living end?! Loooove hiiiiiim. Fabulous in every single way.

Best. Birthday. Gift. EVAH!!!!

Guess what DJB gave me for my 40th birthday?  An engagement ring, dahling. Vintage. 1915. Perfect.

We were dining at our fave French restaurant, La Crêpe Michel. We had the back room to ourselves. Suddenly, he came around to my side of the table, kissed me, dropped to one knee and proposed.

I, being the elegant swan that I am, froze, slapped him approximately six times, babbled incoherently, then finally shrieked "yes!" I continued shrieking until the staff came to see who was being murdered in the back dining room. Once they realized it was a happy occasion rather than a criminal act, we all celebrated.

To say I am on cloud nine is an understatement.

Thanks, Mr. Brown. Crazy about you.

Special Delivery!

I'm so excited I can barely contain myself.  In a few short hours, my fabulous-in-every-way sister, Stacie, arrives from Florida.

No resemblance whatsoever, right? Ha! Total doppelgänger!  She just graduated from Indiana University, and is preparing to enter the world of broadcast journalism. I couldn't be more proud of her.

Also eagerly anticipating the Friday arrival of my big sis, Kelly. Instead of using words to describe how fab she is, I'll just share this pic.

Need I say more? I think not. The gangsta roller girl, by the way, is my sassy niece, Ella.

Several more guests arrive Friday, as well. My 40th birthday weekend is poised to be fall-on-the-floor fabulous. Naturally, I'll have loads of pics for you. Bear with me if I don't post very often over the next several days, as my agenda is jam-packed until the 31st. Such is the life, dahling... and I absolutely LOVE every precious minute of it.

Cheers!
