Farewell to Elmer Lynn Hauldren, better known as the Empire Carpet guy. He was 89.  He was also a decorated war hero, not to mention a baritone singer in the barbershop group, Chordiac Arrest. Five stars.

Fact: Hauldren wrote the Empire jingle himself.

Everybody sing! All together now: five, eight, eight... two, three-hundred... Empiiiiiiire!

Now THIS is fabulous.

Those attending Elizabeth Taylor's funeral yesterday had to wait around for a little while before the service began.

Liz left strict instructions with the Forest Lawn staff to begin the service 15 minutes after schedule.

According to her publicist, Liz wanted to be late to her own funeral.

Fashionably late, dahling. That is, without question, fall-on-the-floor fabulous.

Farewell, Liz.

"I've been through it all, baby; I'm mother courage."

Dame Elizabeth Taylor

A moment of silence, please.

Farewell to a genuine movie star, class act, tireless AIDS activist and humanitarian.

Heaven just got VERY glamorous. The icon has arrived, dahling.

RIP Nate Dogg

Let's pour a bit of beer on the ground to mourn the passing of Nate Dogg (AKA Nathaniel Hale), one of rap's finest male hook singers, who died Tuesday at the age of 41 after several years of health problems. The four-time Grammy nominee was a key player in the rise of the West Coast G-Funk sound, and paramount participant in several gangsta hits.

"We lost a true legend n hip hop n rnb," Snoop Dogg tweeted. "One of my best friends n a brother to me since 1986 when I was a sophomore at poly high where we met. I love u buddy luv. Love to Japan

Love and prayers to the Japan earthquake victims, survivors and their families.

For Whom the Bell Tolls by John Donne

No man is an island, Entire of itself. Each is a piece of the continent, A part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less. As well as if a promontory were. As well as if a manner of thine own Or of thine friend's were. Each man's death diminishes me, For I am involved in mankind. Therefore, send not to know For whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee.

Biggie Was Shot 14 Years Ago Today

The Notorious B.I.G was shot and killed 14 years ago today. He'd just left a Los Angeles party, and was riding in the front passenger seat of a vehicle. When the car stopped at a red light, a black Chevy pulled up beside it and the driver shot Biggie four times through the chest.

His second solo album, Life After Death, was released two weeks later and sold over 10 million copies.

His murder remains unsolved.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

... even though you're dead.

Oh, that didn't come out right. 'Gone, but not forgotten' just sounds so sappy. Sheesh. Ummm... Thanks for all the fabby-boo-babulous books, Ted. There. Done.

R.I.P. Jane Russell

Jane Russell died today at age 89. The legendary screen siren and World War II pin-up died peacefully at home. Respiratory illness.

She was also the face of Playtex's Cross Your Heart bras in the 70s.

Fierce.
